About Us

The Menlo App Academy’s mission is to help kids leverage technology, so that they can share their passions with others across the globe. It is appropriate for kids in 6th through 9th grade (ages 10-16), and is designed for kids with little or no prior programming experience. The Menlo App Academy is committed to admitting up to 10% of students on a full scholarship (free class), in order to expose less advantaged kids to the same opportunities. The Menlo App Academy was started by kids for kids, and is supervised by adults. Inquiries should be sent to: Info@MenloAppAcademy.com.

"I wanted to learn how to create apps for the iPhone and iPad so I asked my dad to help me learn to program. My friend Matt Dillabough wanted to learn also so we started a class and included our brothers and their friend. We started off making a quiz app. By starting off with simple apps, we learned the basics of Xcode, Objective-C, and much more about programming.

My most recent app is called "MW3 Facts and Guide" which is an app that provides information about the Modern Warfare 3 video game. This app has over 110,000 downloads and I am anticipating my 200,000th download in 6 months!"
-- Max Colbert

“Max and I started coding our first iPhone app in November of 2011. It was amazing how easy it is to use Apple’s products and be creative. One of my apps is on Celiac Disease. As a young child, I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease which means that I am gluten intolerant. I wanted to share what I had learned over the years about Celiac and my “Celiapp” allowed me to do this. Coding can be really fun and the App Store is a huge marketplace. Max and I are excited about sharing our knowledge and experience!”
